A Well Traveled Man

This card finishes up the April birthday's! I was late giving this to my dad. . .twice! I didn't mail it for his birthday because I knew he would be coming out to the farm in a week. I then completely forgot to give it to him while he was here, so ended up mailing it anyway. . .sheesh!!!

Happy Birthday, to the man that is always up for a road trip!

Love you, Dad!

Our table. . .

Welcome to our dining room!

It is the first room to be called finished in our house.

We didn't really do anything much. The paint color was already here, and I have always loved yellow in the kitchen.

After a marathon trip to NC a few weeks ago it is now fully furnished!

The china cabinet was made by my mom's cousin's father. . .try saying that five times.
I believe it was made back in the late 40's or early 50's. His craftsmanship is amazing!
We are so grateful to be stewards of these furniture pieces!

This drop leaf table was also made by him. My Great Aunt Eva served up many a meal made with her loving hands onto this table. She was a woman whom I can only aspire to be. . .

caring, giving, serving, selfless. . .

I love having her memories tucked away inside the corners of my house.

We hope to welcome many to our own table in our forever home!

Visitors welcome.

Working on The Room. . .

Here is my first creation for my space here and forever know as. . .

THE Room!

I wanted a pretty place to hold all of my little tools on my table.
I collected several little rectangular boxes from my work, glued them together and then covered them with paper. I am very happy with how it turned out, and now I can display it in the center of my work table.

For those of you that care. . .

I used paper from the Cherry-O and Jingle paper packs and (what else?) Buttercup cardstock.

I used paper flowers with a button and an adhesive gem. Then I inked the originally white butterfly with buttercup ink and added bitty sparkles.

Perfection. . .well, I think so anyway. . .

I found these two wall plaques while I was out last night.

I think they will go a long way in bringing the color scheme together. Not to mention that there are at least 20 of these little gold finches flitting around outside my windows at any given time.

That is it for now! I will keep posting projects as I get them done. I can't wait to reveal the whole room to you someday soon!

Happy Belated Birthday. . .

My sis-in-law had another "29th" birthday in March. . .
I really didn't forget her birthday, but I just wasn't able to make her a card due to the fact that we were in the middle of unpacking and my crafty space was kinda low on the priority list. . .
shocking, I know!

I can say, however, that hers was the first card made in Buttercup's Room!

This stamp set is one of my favorites. I just want to tickle the belly of that little hedgehog.

You might think that the story ends here, but you would be oh, so, wrong!

I completed the card and then it took me about a week to get it into the mail box. . .this is where it gets interesting. You see, my sis-in-law lives in Fontana, CA. . .the people of SoCal tend to call her city Fontucky since it used to be out in the middle of nowhere. I now live in KY. . .apparently I combined those two thoughts and addressed her card to Fontana, KY!
Blessed be the postal workers of our great country. . .it actually made it to her!!!

I think that I might need to start getting some more sleep. . .

Happy Birthday, Aunt Kerry!!!

We really do wish you lived in KY!

The Teen Years. . .

Our little peeps are growing up.
They have now entered that awkward stage we all know and love. . .

Adolescents!!! What is it about this stage of life that produces the gangly, ratty appearance regardless of gender and apparently species?

The girls are doing well and will soon be able to experience the great outdoors.

Here is our littlest one that I blogged about a week or so ago. You can read about it here on
The Hands Of A Farmer. She is very healthy now, but is still a lot smaller than the others.

I have named her Chica.

In my very best Spanish I like to walk into the barn and say, "Hola, Chica!"

And that is about the extent of my very best Spanish. . .

Soooooo. . .So far, so good! Between farm life and Awanas we are settling into our new routine.
That makes for one happy girl!

Love ya,
